Minecraft Potions Guide: Brewing Prepare
What you will need for every potion:
- A Water Bottle or Potion bottle
- Brewing Stand. A brewing stand is a mid-game item. Typically, players will have to craft it independently by heading into the Nether, finding a Nether Fortress, and gathering Blaze Rods. And The potion brewing stand needs fuel.
- Blaze Powder. When you kill a Blaze, there is a chance it will drop a blaze rod. Each blaze rod can be broken down into two blaze powders.
- One extra ingredient
Recipe to craft a water bottle:
- Three Glass blocks
- One bucket of water. To fill the water bottles with water, find a nearby water source, tap on the water source with the empty glass bottle in your hand, and it will fill the bottle with water.
Recipe to craft a brewing stand:
- Three Cobblestone
- One blaze rod. When you kill a Blaze, there is a chance it will drop a blaze rod.
- Crafting table.
Minecraft Potions Guide: Brewing Procedure
Potion-Brewing Procedure:
- Open the Brewing Stand.
- Add Blaze Powder to the left box. This will activate the stand.
- Add the necessary glass bottle or potion bottles to the bottom row (the more bottles you add, the more the potion will be made in a single brew.)
- Add the necessary base ingredient to the top box.
- The potion will take 20 seconds to brew, the base ingredient will disappear, and the bottles at the bottom will change into the new potion.

Awkward Potion
To brew most potions, you must first brew the awkward potion. It allows you to make all potions except for the Mundane potion, the Thick potion, and the Potions of Weakness. The Awkward Potion has no effects when consumed.
For the Awkward potion, you will need:
- Base: Nether Wart
- Bottle: Water Bottles
Potion of Decay
The Potion of Decay will cause the player that has consumed it to gain the Wither II effect; The player will lose health rapidly, and, unlike the Potion of Poison, if the player runs out of health, the player will die. The Potion of Decay does not currently have a brewing method and is extremely rare to find. However, this potion could be found in a witch hut’s cauldron, or you may find the potion in a hidden chest.
Potion of Fire Resistance
This potion will allow the player that has consumed the potion to resist all damage from fire or lava. The effect will last for 3 minutes and can be extended to 6 minutes.
For the Fire Resistance potion(3:00), you will need:
- Base: Magma Cream
- Bottle: Awkward Potion

Potion of Harming (Instant Damage)
This potion will cause the player that has consumed the potion to lose 6 health points(hearts) instantly. When it is enhanced, the player will lose 12 health points. This potion will have the opposite effect on the undead mobs. Instead of harm, they will heal the undead.
For the potion of Harming, you will need:
- Base: Fermented Spider-eye
- Bottle: Healing potions or Poison
Enhance this potion to Harming (Instant Damage II) by using: Glowstone
Potion of Healing (Instant Health)
The potion of Healing will allow the player that has consumed the potion to instantly restore 4 health points(hearts). This potion can also be enhanced, allowing the player who has consumed the potion to gain 8 health points.
For the potion of Healing(Instant Health), you will need:
- Base: Glistering Melon Slice
- Bottle: Awkward Potion
Enhance this potion to Healing(Instant Health II) by using: Glowstone
Potion of Invisibility
This Potion will render the player who has consumed the potion invisible for three or eight minutes. Note that your equipped and wielded items will still be visible. Wither also can see you with invisibility. However, the Ender dragon won’t be able to detect you if you are invisible until you take any aggressive steps.
For the potion of Invisibility (3:00), you will need:

Potion of Leaping (Jump Boost)
In brief, This potion (Jump Boost) will let you jump higher and reduces fall damage. In detail, It will allow the player that has consumed the potion to jump ½ a block higher than usual for three minutes. The potion can be extended to last for 8 minutes. This potion can also be enhanced and allow the player that has consumed the potion to jump 1 ¼ blocks higher than usual and last for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
For the Potion of Leaping (3:00- Jump Boost), you will need:
- Base: Rabbit’s Foot
- Bottle: Awkward potion
Extend this potion to the Leaping (8:00- Jump Boost) by using: Redstone
Enhance this potion to the Leaping (1:30- Jump Boost II) by using: Glowstone
Potion of Luck
The Potion of Luck will allow the player that has consumed the potion to increase their Luck to Luck +1 for 5 minutes. The Potion of Luck does not currently have a brewing method and is extremely rare. However, this potion could be found in a hidden chest.
The Potion of Night Vision
This potion will allow the player that has consumed the potion to view everything with maximum light for 3 minutes. This potion can be extended to last for 8 minutes. The effect will cause the night to look like day, or any darker areas, such as caves and deep underwater, to be bright.
For the Night Vision Potions(3:00), you will need:
- Base: Golden Carrot
- Bottle: Awkward potion
Extend this potion to the Night Vision(8:00) by using: Redstone
Potion of Poison
This potion will cause the player that has consumed the potion to lose 1 health point (hearts) every 1.25 seconds for 45 seconds. The potion can be extended to last for 1 minute and 30 seconds. And it will change the effect to losing 1 health point every 0.4 seconds and will last for 21 seconds after enhanced. This potion can not kill a player. It can only take the player’s health down to 0.5 health points.
For Poison (0:45), you will need:
- Base: Spider Eye
- Bottle: Awkward potion
Extend this potion time 1:30 by using: Redstone
Enhance this potion to the 0:21(Poison II) by using: Glowstone
Potion of Regeneration
This potion will cause the player that has consumed the potion to gain 1 health point(heart) every 2.5 seconds for 45 seconds. The potion can be extended to last for 1 minute and 30 seconds. And it will change the effect to gaining 1 health point every 1.2 seconds and will only last for 22 seconds after enhanced.
For the Potion of Regeneration (0:45), you will need:
- Base: Ghast tear
- Bottle: Awkward potion

This potion will ensure that the player that has consumed the potion does not take damage from falling. The player will fall slower for 1 minute and 30 seconds. You can extend the potion to last for 4 minutes.

Potion of Slowness
This potion will cause the player that has consumed the potion to lose 15% of their movement speed for 1 minute and 30 seconds. You can extend the potion to last for 4 minutes. It will change the effect, causing the player to lose 60% of their movement, lasting for 20 seconds after enhancement.
For the Slowness (1:30), you will need:
- Base: Fermented Spider Eye
- Bottle: Potion of Leaping or Swiftness

Potion of Strength

It can also be enhanced. This will change the effect to increase their melee attack damage by an additional 6 hit points and will last for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
